What is the difference between the Confirmatory and Comprehensive packages?
plus icon

The Confirmatory package is best suited for children who have previously been evaluated for autism.  If the evaluation was through a school, a clinical diagnosis may be needed to access therapies and services outside of the school.  Additionally, prior evaluations may not have been definitive or significant changes may have occurred where a new assessment may be beneficial.  Documents and reports from prior evaluations will be very useful for the Confirmatory package.

The Comprehensive package is for young children where there are concerns for the child’s development including language and communication, social skills, and repetitive or unusual behaviors.  An accurate diagnosis will help you access the best care for your child.

With either package, our skilled diagnostician will perform a thorough evaluation and provide you with an understanding of your child’s strengths, areas to work on, and treatment recommendations.

How long does the evaluation last?

Each diagnostic appointment is scheduled for 3 hours, but the exact timing varies based on the individual needs of each family. Within the appointment, our diagnostician will talk with you and observe you playing and interacting with your child. There will be time to answer your questions. You will receive a final assessment and feedback from the diagnostician at the end of the appointment.

What do I need to do to prepare for the appointment?

After your appointment is confirmed, you will start our intake process.  This involves answering questions about your child and securely uploading any relevant reports, documents, and videos of your child.   Then, for the video appointment, you will want to be at home or place that is comfortable and familiar for your child with several of their toys nearby.  Make sure to select a time when your child will be well rested, fed, and ready to play.  Our diagnostician will talk with you and ask you questions and direct you to play with certain toys with your child.  Typically we will want to observe how your child talks and communicates, how they react to different types of toys that move or make noise, and how they use their imagination.

What do I get back after the appointment?

At the end of the appointment, our diagnostician will give you feedback on their assessment and what they observed.  You will receive a full report detailing your child’s abilities across different areas, any relevant diagnoses, and recommendations for treatment and next steps.
