What is the process for getting my child evaluated with Jigsaw Diagnostics?

First, you can start with a free consultation to talk about your concerns and need for an evaluation. Next, our Care Coordinators can schedule you for a telehealth evaluation appointment with one of our experienced Diagnosticians. You will then complete our online Intake by answering several questionnaires about your child's behavior, development, and medical history as well as submitting a few brief videos of your child. Finally, you and your child will attend a 3-hour online telehealth appointment with the Diagnostician. You will receive the written Diagnostic Report approximately 1 week later. Please call our Care Coordinator team to learn more.

Are your services covered by insurance?

We are in-network with several insurance providers. For out-of-network plans, we can work with your insurance and provide a superbill to seek potential reimbursement to you from your carrier.  Please call to speak with our Care Coordinators for any insurance questions.

Can I use my HSA/FSA to pay?

Yes. We are able to provide you with an invoice that you may use to submit to your HSA/FSA for reimbursement for our services.

How long does the evaluation last?

Each diagnostic appointment is scheduled for 3 hours, but the exact timing varies based on the individual needs of each family. Within the appointment, our diagnostician will talk with you and observe you playing and interacting with your child. There will be time to answer your questions. You will receive a final assessment and feedback from the diagnostician at the end of the appointment.

What do I need to do to prepare for the appointment?

After your appointment is confirmed, you will start our intake process.  This involves answering online questionnaires about your child and securely uploading any relevant reports, documents, and videos of your child.   Then, for the telehealth evaluation appointment, you will want to be at home or place that is private, comfortable, and familiar for your child with several of their toys nearby.  Make sure to select a time when your child will be well rested, fed, and ready to play.  Our diagnostician will talk with you and ask you questions and direct you to play with certain toys with your child.  Typically we will want to observe how your child talks and communicates, how they react to different types of toys that move or make noise, and how they use their imagination.

What do I get back after the appointment?

At the end of the appointment, our diagnostician will give you feedback on their assessment and what they observed.  Approximately 1 week later, you will receive a full Diagnostic Report detailing your child’s abilities across different areas, any relevant diagnoses, and recommendations for treatment and next steps. The Diagnostic Report is critical for accessing appropriate therapies and interventions for your child.
